General Rodriguez, Commander of United States Africa Command (USAFRICOM), met with President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita  on Tuesday, March 10,  to discuss common defense and security concerns. General Rodriguez acknowledged that Mali had made significant progress toward securing a lasting peace in the North. He saluted those efforts and in particular the efforts to negotiate a peace agreement. He thanked Mali for its efforts to combat violent extremism and reiterated the United States’ support for Mali’s efforts to build a strong and professional security force accountable to civilian leadership and to all the people.
