Monday June 15 – The U.S. Ambassador Paul A. Folmsbee along with PM Modibo Keita chaired the opening ceremony of a High Level Regional Forum on Climate-Smart Agriculture in West Africa. The USAID-supported regional forum seeks to facilitate a collective reflection on opportunities, issues, challenges and strategic choices related to the development of Climate-Smart Agriculture in West Africa. Ambassador Folmsbee commended organizations involved in the planning of the event. He recalled the U.S. contribution to the agriculture sector through its Food Security Initiative (Feed the Future) and initiatives on climate change at regional and national levels in Africa. He also assured that the U.S. will continue to support regional organizations as long as they work with stakeholders in the region to share information, best practices and policies on climate-smart agriculture. The Forum receives financial and technical support from the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).
