To launch the start of the academic school year, Ambassador Folmsbee, along with the Minister of Education, participated in the official ceremony marking the start of the McGovern Dole Food for Education and Child Nutrition project. The U.S. government, through the Department of Agriculture (USDA) donated 2,340 initial tons of the 8,340 total tons of food to support the project. This program aims to improve school attendance and the quality of education in 264 primary schools in Mali by providing daily meals to more than 76,000 primary school children as well as take-home rations to students who regularly attend school during the 2016-2017 school year.
