Charge Andrew Young Distributes Peace Accord to Malian Press

The U.S. Chargé Andrew Young on April 30 distributed 100 copies of the peace agreement in six languages to Maison de la Presse. The translations are in Bambara, Fulani, Songhai and Tamasheq. The distribution ceremony took place at Maison de la Presse before six dozen journalists during a ceremony marking International Press Freedom Day. The Chargé used this opportunity to condemn the recent violence in and around Menaka, Timbuktu and Goundam. On behalf of the United States, he urged the parties to seize the opportunity offered by the peace process and reaffirmed the United States’ strong support for MINUSMA. He also encouraged the press to disseminate the agreement so people can make informed contributions toward the peace process.
