Deputy Assistant Secretary for West Africa and sub-Saharan African Economic Policy Issues Bisa Williams met April 21 with Malian President Ibrahima Boubacar Keita.  Their discussions included strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries. Speaking to press after the presidential meeting, DAS Williams stressed the importance of peace and United States’ support of the current peace process. She expressed the U.S. commitment to increase its assistance to Mali and urged Malian authorities to develop the entrepreneurship sector. She also expressed support for the fight against corruption and strengthening the rule of law in order to create a favorable investment environment.
