After the official launch of the program Mediators for Peace (M4P) on October 18, training sessions for participants began on November 15. Participating in the first training were Prime Minister Moussa Mara, U.S. Embassy Representative Bill Bellis, CNJ President Mohamed Salia Touré, and Youth Chamber International President Didi Diallo, as well as directors of other youth-oriented NGOs. “Competence is the only type of capital which a person cannot steal,” said PM Mara in his remarks.
M4P is a program designed and implemented by the Conseil National de la Jeunesse and supported by the U.S. Embassy. It seeks to train over 200 young leaders from all regions of Mali in conflict resolution techniques. These mediators for peace will then conduct follow on projects in their home town.
