In light of recent attacks in northern and central Mali and the region, please review the State Department Travel Advisory for Mali. In the past, attacks have occurred in other areas of Mali, including Bamako. Government buildings and areas where expatriates gather have been targets.
American citizens are advised to:
· Exercise caution if in the vicinity of large gatherings or protests
· Avoid the areas of demonstrations
· Do not attempt to drive through protests or roadblocks
· Continue to exercise vigilance while in Mali
· Review your personal security plans
· Keep a low profile
· Be aware of your surroundings
· Keep some form of communication with you
· Monitor local media for updates
