U.S. Army Provides Civil-Military Training to Malian Troops

March 4, 2020 – Recently, the U.S. Embassy Bamako’s Civil Military Support Element (CMSE) provided ten commandos from the Malian Armed Forces Battalion Autonome des Forces Speciales (BAFS) with training on Civil-Military Cooperation.  The U.S. Army CMSE team assisted the BAFS interfacing with civilian populations to build community relations and enable better cooperation and improve security.

Three U.S. Civil Affairs Soldiers from the 95th Civil Affairs Brigade provided a week of training for the BAF troops as part of the U.S. government’s ongoing efforts to assist the Malian military in serving the Malian people by deterring the negative impact of terrorists and criminals in the civilian environment. U.S. Civil Military Support Elements prioritize the Civil-Military Cooperation capacity building to assist partner forces in building relations with communities, countering terrorism, and stabilizing conflict-affected populations.
