The U.S. Embassy hosted 15 Malian journalists and bloggers for a series of Digital Video conferences focused on the “Role of Bloggers and Journalists in Time of Crisis”. The goal was to reinforce their capacities to better perform their job. The training sessions were facilitated by experts from the Africa Regional Services (ARS) based in France. Speaking to participants at the closing ceremony September 25, Deputy Chief of Mission Gregory Garland underscored that “this training was also an expression of the United States’ willingness to collaborate with Malian journalists to play an effective role for the proper functioning of democracy in Mali, for peace, and for development.”
