U.S. Marines in Mali Bring Holiday Joy to Kids with Special Needs in Faladje, Bamako

In celebration of the 2017 holiday season, the U.S. Embassy Mali’s United States Marine Corps detachment donated toys and clothing at the the Housna Ka So Center for special-needs children in the Faladje neighborhood in Bamako.  During their visit to the Housna Center, the Marines played basketball, legos and worked on art projects and played music with the kids and young adults who live at the center.  U.S. Embassy employees donated the toys and clothing as part of the U.S. Marine Corps’ Toys for Tots Program.

The mission of the U. S. Marine Corps’ Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys, and distribute them during the holidays to children who are in need.  The Toys for Tots Program is an annual tradition at the U.S. Embassy in Mali.
